The book considers the gifts through earth that are in place at birth, before beliefs, cultures and boundaries begin to direct the human heart and mind. It is written from inside moments of reflection and includes poignant stories and ways of working with the life we are given.
an excerpt, page 13:
How do we begin life?
How does life begin us?
With enough to see us through
With little enough to want more
and another, page 27:
It is our nature to grow. All of life’s nature is to grow. When we are separate from this inherent and organizing impulse, our appetites take over, perhaps in an effort to fill a hollow that arises each time we turn away from our given nature. We are nothing if not viable aspects of earth’s diversity. Learning to live as contributors to and collaborators with earth may provide access to sustainability’s deeper levels of wisdom.
We are startlingly similar – earth and self – and likely resource to one another.
